Paula Schumann is a Washington DC based interior designer who has been creating unique and highly individual environments for her clients for over ten years. With a background in art and design Paula brings a studied eye and an intuitive approach to finding the perfect balance between form and function. She believes that the best interior is one achieved through the use of color, texture and well proportioned furnishings. Specializing in residential interiors, her projects range from the “Contemporary Mix” to the “Updated Traditional”. She has also dabbled in hospitality settings, recently completing a renovation to the interior of the Art Moderne home built by Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz, now the “The Field School” on Foxhall Road in NW Washington, DC.
Seeing each project as a collaboration, Paula’s process involves working with the client to develop and realize their ideal setting, whether it’s a complete re-do or simply updating and editing an existing space. Her use of eclectic objects and furnishings, both old and new, assures a fresh look and feel to any interior.
Paula Schumann has been featured in the special Art Issue of Home and Design Magazine for “The Modern Mystique” and has an extensive knowledge of modernist furniture as well as an intimate connection with the contemporary art world. She has traveled in the United States and Europe purchasing the perfect pieces for her clients.
